A committee for all seasons: The ninth session of the Committee on Disaster Risk Reduction lays the groundwork for a resilient Asia and the Pacific

November 26-28, 2025

The ninth session of the Committee on Disaster Risk Reduction will take place from 26 to 28 November 2025 in Bangkok as part of ESCAP’s Disaster Resilience Week, where the Committee will review the expanding disaster risk landscape in Asia and the Pacific alongside advancing regional implementation of the UN Secretary-General’s call-to-action on Extreme Heat and the Early Warnings for All Executive Action Plan. The recent work done by ESCAP will also be taken into account at the session alongside the wider UN system related to disaster resilience.
The session will establish a platform for Member States and stakeholders allowing them to exchange good practices, strengthen policy dialogue, and explore innovative approaches to increasing resilience amid intensifying climate and heat-related impacts. Organised by ESCAP’s Information and Communications Technology and Disaster Risk Reduction Division, the event will also witness the launch of the Asia-Pacific Disaster Report 2025, Rising Heat, Rising Risk, which highlights the region’s growing heat-related challenges and the need for regional collaboration. Timetables for both the Committee and Disaster Resilience Week are available for reference.
